I grew up in the comfortable suburbs of northern New Jersey, where “the city” naturally meant New York. My formative years largely revolved around rock concerts at Madison Square Garden, where I saw what we now call “classic rock” bands in their heydays.
College took me to Baltimore, MD where I received an undergraduate degree in science from Johns Hopkins and then had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up! I’m still kind of pondering that one, but it appears that I’m good at, and enjoy, marketing – particularly writing, so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
The next 20+ years saw me in a variety of tech-related marketing roles in and around Baltimore until I moved to Raleigh, NC for about 7 years. I’ve been back in Maryland, this time in the DC ‘burbs, and have been with a few more technology companies. It’s a volatile field, and I’ve seen quite a few layoffs and restructures where the marketing team got the short end.
I’m a lifelong animal lover, and over the years have rescued, loved, and lost quite a few cats and dogs. My current fur family includes Lily, a pit bull, and cats Brian (l) and Roger (r).
And, as one might surmise, I also knit and crochet. It still kind of amazes me that you can start with a ball of yarn, 2 needles or a hook, and end up with a garment, blanket, dish towel, or anything else you can imagine. As with words, the possibilities are endless.
